Abstract :
In this paper, a novel general approach to constructing sparse symmetric constitutive matrices in a consistent way is presented. The resulting matrices, positive definite in most of the cases, are suitable to be utilized in the cell method or the finite integration technique in order to ensure stability in solving two-dimensional time-domain problems on general unstructured grids.
