Abstract :
The figures of merit of windows for harmonic analysis proposed by Harris [1] are discussed, and other figures of merit are investigated. An interesting result is that for the estimation of the power density spectrum from a limited amount of data, the only relevant characteristic of a window is the spectral sidelobe level.
