Abstract :
The letter tries to define a model which allows one to describe not only the guided waves in a rectangular image guide but also the possibilities of coupling between these latter and the continuous mode spectrum (radiation losses). A first approach is presented, and to confirm the validity of the model the theoretical results are compared to field variation measurements.
