Abstract :
The wave reflected from a Lorentz medium when illuminated by a transverse electric polarized plane wave with impulsive time dependence is expressed as an infinite sum of spherical Bessel functions. This solution is useful in numerical calculation for small and intermediate values of time. For small values of time the Lorentz medium solution simplifies to the result for the impulse response of a cold plasma.
