Abstract :
Major developments in transportation during 1988 are reviewed. Chief among them are: the selection of IBM to build air-traffic control workstations for the FAA´s (Federal Aviation Administration) Advanced Automation System; legislation requiring collision-avoidance devices for aircraft; the opening of a maglev system in West Berlin; and groundbreaking for a tunnel beneath the English Channel.<>
