Abstract
Among the notable developments during 1988, the US was back in space for the first time since the January 1986 Challenger disaster, the European Space Agency and the Soviet Union launched entirely new vehicles, and Israel became the eighth nation with launch capability. Also discussed are the official unveiling of two stealth bombers by the US Air Force, the successful testing of over-the-horizon radar against small targets, and US-Army-funded research on a missile designed to pierce tank armor at medium range.<>
