Abstract :
A unified static analysis is presented for the four basic switching regulator configurations: the buck, the boost, the single-winding, and the double-winding buck-boost. This analysis serves as a basis for a systematic design method that has been implemented as a conversational computer-aided design program that enables an unskilled operator to choose and design the switching regulator that is best adapted to his particular problem. The program also dimensions the storage inductor and indicates on the list of possible solutions those that are optimal from the mass, size, and efficiency point of view.
