Abstract
Leakage arising in the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spectrum can be regulated and, in a certain sense, rejected by appropriate choice of time domain window. This is applicable to the case where leakage energy from a strong signal obscures a neighboring weaker signal of interest. The class of cosine windows can be used for this purpose, when suitably parameterized by the frequency of the interfering signal.
