  • Abstract
The operations of the Federal Telegraph Company are described. The present chain of stations of the company comprises those at Seattle, Portland, Medford, Central Point, Sacramento, Phoenix, San Diego, El Paso, Fort Worth, Chicago and others in the USA. The messages have been sent from San Francisco to Chicago, the service is not of the same character as that maintained on the Pacific Coast, which latter is strictly commercial. The largest of all these stations are those at San Francisco and Honolulu. Each of these has a power of 40 kilowatts, which is to be increased to 60 kilowatts. The comkpany operates under the Poulsen patents. However, the apparatus imported from Denmark in 1910, showed many commercial defects and lack of reliability. These are discussed in detail for transmitting and receiving ends of the operation.
