Abstract :
Two single spatial mode laser diodes, one at 833 nm, the other at either 985 or 1016 nm, simultaneously pumped a Pr/Yb co-doped fluoride fibre laser at room temperature. With appropriate laser mirrors, CW laser oscillation was observed at red and green wavelengths. The fibre laser produced over 6 mW at 635 nm and 0.7 mW at 521 nm. Laser excitation spectra were taken by alternately replacing one of the pump laser diodes by a tunable Ti:sapphire laser.
