Abstract :
The contraction of a stripe domain in LPE garnet films was investigated by a new type of high speed photography in which the domain motions are analyzed in real time. The stripe domain contracts along the initial stripe location with some lateral motion of the stripe ends. The contracting velocity of the stripe end initially increases with increasing driving force, and then saturates with a further increase of the force. The saturation velocity is considerably higher than that measured by bubble collapse and by field gradient propagation methods.
