Abstract :
A p.c.m. counter-coder for the segmented A law is described. The suggested compression technique takes advantage of the exponential voltage decay in an RC circuit and the linear decay in a circuit composed of a capacitor and a current sink. The necessary number of counter steps per sample is 38 for an 8-digit code.
