Abstract
With the increasing growth of the British Telecom cable network and the rapidly increasing variety of subscriber terminal equipment, growing pressure has been placed on the efficiency and reliability of wire connectors. For this reason an increasing interest exists in the use of insulation displacement technology for which high-speed high-density connection can be achieved. Research carried out to establish the long-term integrity of this family of connecting devices and their suitability for use within the British telecommunications system is described. Comparative test results on a variety of connect systems which use insulation displacement methods are included. The devices are being evaluated on the current British Telecom wire types
