Abstract :
A simplified model is used to calculate the magnetic properties of a polycrystalline ferromagnetic body as a function of small and large stresses in low magnetic fields. Reversible boundary displacement and domain rotation have been taken into account. The influence of the ratio between these processes on the magnetoelastic properties of the ferromagnetic body has been analyzed. The static characteristics of the magnetoelastic transformation and the magnetoelastic sensitivity have been calculated. The equations derived permit a qualitative explanation and quantitative evaluation of the magnetoelastic properties of isotropic and anisotropic ferromagnetic materials subjected to tension or compression.
