Abstract :
We report here on the effects of ion implantation damage on the anisotropy, magnetization and compensation temperature of amorphous GdCoMo films. We find that the magnetization and compensation temperatures of these alloys are changed only slightly by implantation damage whereas the anisotropy is greatly reduced. Our results are most consistent with the short range atomic ordering model for the anisotropy.
