Abstract :
The ferromagnetic loss effect on amplification of magnetostatic surface waves (MSSW) by a YIG-semiconductor coupled system is described. The criteria of convective instability in the system containing YIG loss is derived by solving the dispersion relation analytically, under the thin-slab approximation, and this result is compared the exact computer solution. Also, the influence of YIG loss on the amplification bandwidth is considered.
