Low-power design involves so many design tweaks, it needs a verification approach all to itself. Just about every analysis of chip design claims verification consumes more than half of the time needed today to bring a semiconductor system to market. How much more varies depending on the target application, though it is also m probably fair to say that one area & feeling greater pain is mobile communications.
