Abstract :
The one-dimensional inverse scattering problem can be solved in principal by use of the Gel´fand-Levitan integral equation. However, explicit solutions of this equation are seldom easy to obtain. Here we develop an iterative numeric procedure to reconstruct arbitrary smooth dielectric profiles. Several cases exemplify the simplicity and economy of the technique.
