Abstract :
If the step-response rise time of a linear low-pass system is to be a minimum under the constraint of a given noise bandwidth, the systems parameters should be so tuned that the step response is strictly free from overshoot. This conclusion is also true when the system bandwidth is defined as its 3-dB bandwidth.
