Abstract :
In most manufacturing and service companies some form of work measurement, both manual and clerical, is carried out by an industrial engineering department, while every enterprise has its accountancy team. In all too many cases, however, these two specialist groups operate in isolation, with the industrial engineers producing one set of data and the accountants working from another. To achieve proper control these two services should work closely together and their joint efforts combined for the purpose of giving supervisors and managers the tools needed to control the resources for which they are responsible. The computerised control system outlined gives a blueprint of what is required. The author briefly describes the system and then discusses work measurement and staff control relating to the control system
