Abstract :
In many Latin American countries the costs of the data links of average distances, within a metropolitan area, provided by the companies of telecommunications, are high. A solution constitutes the wireless connections of spread spectrum, with directional antennas of gain between 15 and 25 db, placed in masts in the top of the buildings. With this disposition of the equipment, distances within a metropolitan area can be covered, and in a great number of cases, the connections have multihops, to arrive at the destiny place. Nevertheless the standard IEEE 802,11 has not been designed to work in these conditions, having a low perfomance in the layer of transport TCP, when multihops exist, this fact get worse when in addition ramifications in these hops exist. In the present work this situation is analyzed, making simulations, and novel solutions set out, to the aims to improve the perfomance of this type of networks.
