Abstract :
We have studied the optical absorption and Faraday rotation of two garnet series: (GdPrBi)3(FeGaIn)5O12and (YLaBi)3(FeGa)5O12. The measurements were performed in the near-infrared region at 300 K in the flux-grown bulk single crystals. The main purpose of this work is to develop a material with small sa turation magnetization and high figure of merit. The experiments showed that, for magneto-optical devices, In3+doped mixed rare earth gallium iron garnet is an attractive material for room-temperature operation at λ=1.064μm.
