Abstract
We have studied the optical absorption and Faraday rotation of two garnet series: (GdPrBi)3 (FeGaIn)5 O12 and (YLaBi)3 (FeGa)5 O12 . The measurements were performed in the near-infrared region at 300 K in the flux-grown bulk single crystals. The main purpose of this work is to develop a material with small sa turation magnetization and high figure of merit. The experiments showed that, for magneto-optical devices, In3+doped mixed rare earth gallium iron garnet is an attractive material for room-temperature operation at λ=1.064μm.
