Abstract :
A three-way multiplexer with a 2-3 decoder using Josephson-current-injection three-input AND gates is proposed. This multiplexer has been experimentally fabricated and successfully operated. The device has advantages in power dissipation and circuit area due to a reduction in the number of gates. The power dissipation is 11 μW, which is 40% of that of a conventional circuit configuration composed of two-input AND gates. The circuit area is 90% the size of a conventional circuit. The circuit is composed of three three-input AND gates that use resistor-coupled logic. The AND gates simplify the circuit by realizing both 2-3 decoder and multiplexer functions simultaneously. The fabricated circuit also uses master-slave latches to offer the true and the complement of the data selection signals and to store the output signal of the multiplexer
