Abstract
The importance of waveform response in television and pulse modulation was stressed by Thomson1 in 1952, a theme further to be emphasised by Lewis and Macdiarmid, and later reviewed by Theile;2 a theme which is as true today as it was in 1952. The quarter-century since then has seen the steady growth of cable television in this country; and the concurrent developments in television measurement techniques have been directly relevant to cable networks.
