Abstract
A self-fulfilling prophecy has taken hold of the electronics world since 1965, the year that Gordon Moore predicted the biennial exponential increase in transistor density for integrated circuits. Since then, industry has used ingenious techniques to overcome numerous obstacles to continued scaling, thereby enabling more powerful and affordable electronics to reshape every aspect of our lives. But change is inevitable, as even in the words of Gordon Moore himself, "no exponential is forever."
