Pulse compression by an optical fibre loop mirror constructed from two different fibres

Abstract :
Simulation of a nonlinear optical loop mirror composed of two fibres with different dispersion and/or nonlinearity is reported. Results show that optical switching is possible with a symmetric coupler along with the possibility of pulse compression.
