Abstract :
Dispersion supported transmission (DST) has been presented as a linear scheme to extend the linear chromatic-dispersion limit. Although such a scheme is possible, the Letter clarifies that the recently demonstrated DST 10 Gbit/s transmission over 252 km is definitely predicated on fibre nonlinearities.
