Abstract :
A simple method of reducing the common-mode electromagnetic interference (EMI) of a switching circuit employing a planar wound transformer is presented. The method is based on the concept of charge balance being maintained within the transformer during a switching event. Charge balance is ensured by means of a compensating planar shield winding.
