  • Abstract
Using a flyback converter as a case study, an electromagnetic interference (EMI) simulation model including the non-linear behaviour of an isolation transformer is developed. To take into account the non-linearity of the transformer in the circuit simulation, the Jiles-Atherton (J-A) model that handles the non-linear behaviour of the magnetic core is proposed. As the non-linearity of the transformer affects mainly the differential-mode (DM) conducted EMI but not the common-mode conducted EMI, the simulation and experimental results presented in the study will focus on DM conducted EMI. The ability to include the non-linear behaviour of a magnetic component in a power converter yields more realistic prediction that reflects the actual operating condition of the power converter, which prevents underestimation of DM conducted EMI.
