Abstract
A new rigorous method of analysing transient processes in picosecond photoconductive switches is presented. This method combines the time-domain finite difference algorithm of the Maxwell equations with the ensemble Monte Carlo simulation method and therefore it is generally applicable to other ultrafast semiconductor optoelectronic devices.
