Abstract :
A single layer solenoid, the Toroidal Field Conductor Insert (TFCI) was tested in October 2001 at JAERI test facility (Naka, Japan) as a part of the ITER CSMC & Insert Test Program. During the test campaign, the TFCI reached designed operating current of 46 kA at background magnetic field of 13 T without visible problems. However some results required nondestructive and destructive examinations of the TFCI to check the compliance with the design specifications. These examinations were performed in 2004 by the manufacturing company-the Federal State Unitary Enterprise´ D.V. Efremov Scientific Research Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus (hereinafter named as the Efremov Institute).
