Abstract
Broadband optical polarisation splitters have been designed, fabricated and characterised in K+/Na+ ion-exchanged glass. The devices are strongly overcoupled directional couplers. An operating bandwidth of 50 nm has been achieved at an operating wavelength of 830 nm. The best crosstalk performance was 15 dB and 12 dB in the two output channels.
