Abstract :
An innovative DC-coupled burst-mode optical transmitter is presented for gigabit PON upstream transmission at 1.25 Gbit/s. Experimental results show that this burst-mode transmitter meets the specifications of the recently approved ITU-T Recommendation G.984.2. The chip can stabilise and control the launched optical power level with accuracy better than 1 dB over a wide temperature range.
