Abstract :
A compact latching type 1*2 single-mode fibre switch employing a micro magnetic alloy pipe is described. The switch exhibits an insertion loss of 0.9 dB, driving power of 9 mW with a switching time of <6 ms, and a reproducibility of <+or-0.1 dB through 2*107 switching operations.
