Abstract
The paper deals with the identification of the current distribution in an ITER-type multistrand superconducting cable. The procedure uses the signals given by magnetic field probes located around the cable and permits an estimate of the current unbalances among the cable main bundles. The identification is obtained with the singular value decomposition method, which has already been applied by many authors to other similar identification problems. However, some aspects related to the procedure error and accuracy are presently still to be analyzed exhaustively. The paper shows a detailed analysis of the identification error and accuracy estimate, and shows the results of its application to the Poloidal Field Full-Size Joint Sample (PF-FSJS)
