Abstract
Presents a tutorial on the interpretation and applications of characteristic multipliers (CMs). It gives a definition of this concept and its applications using Chua´s circuit as a vehicle of illustration. Two basic bifurcation routes to chaos are studied: period doubling and transition to torus
