Abstract
Conventional experimental techniques in HGMS fail to provide directly detailed information about the distribution of captured particles within a fibrous matrix. A sodium iodide crystal γ-radiation detector mounted on a rectilinear scanner has been used here, with radioactive tracers, to observe nondestructively the deposition of colloidal particles within various types of magnetic filter, enabling experimental verification of theoretical models of particle capture and build-up.
