Abstract :
Loudspeaker nonlinearity at high volumes limits the achievable echo cancellation performance in linear acoustic echo cancellers. A new nonlinear adaptive filter for improving the echo cancellation performance at high volumes for hands free telephones is proposed. Experimental measurements show that an echo cancellation improvement of >8 dB can be obtained at high volumes as compared to a linear adaptive filter
