Abstract
In order to better understand the likely costs of advanced television (ATV) receivers, a personal computer based cost model was developed that projects receiver prices under a number of possible scenarios. A description is given of the structure of the model and the assumptions upon which it is based. as well as the model outputs in the form of projected receiver costs under relevant scenarios. The PC spreadsheet-based cost model projects ATV receiver prices by building up from the cost of components to the full retail price. The scenario to be modeled is selected by choosing certain physical characteristics of the receiver as well as when and how quickly receivers are introduced
