Computer-aided optimization of saturated electromagnetic systems

A method for determining the optimum correlations between the basic geometric parameters of C-shaped electromagnetic system is described, when the saturation and the leakage can not be neglected. A non-linear programming problem is formulated on the basis of an equivalent magnetic circuit of the electromagnetic system. Flexible tolerance method program is used to find the optimum solution of the problem. As an illustration, the aplication of the method for optimum design of an electromagnet is shown.
