Abstract :
The paper presents a study of the operation of a parametric transformer when its primary winding is full-wave controlled by thyristors, and its secondary winding is (a) supplying a passive load, (b) connected to a live busbar. The effects of delaying the firing angle of the thyristors on the input and output currents, output voltage, harmonics, input and output power and efficiency are examined using computer simulation as well as measurements on a small experimental unit.
