Abstract :
An analytic solution is found for the lateral force between rectangular pole faces. The solution uses a joining of two simpler solutions, one valid at small lateral displacements and one valid at large displacements. This technique is applicable to the case of unequal pole widths. Good agreement is found with experimental results of previous researchers.
