Abstract :
A novel switching surge and noise reduction technique in zero voltage switched power convertors is discussed. Surge and noise mechanisms are analysed theoretically on the basis of equivalent circuit modelling. It is shown that nonlinear capacitors have many advantages from the point of view of surge voltages, EMI and switching loss reduction. The theoretical analysis is confirmed experimentally. The design of the nonlinear capacitive snubbers is also presented
