Abstract :
A polarisation-maintaining single-mode-fibre interferometer is described. The combination of a stress-induced birefringent fibre and its temperature change offers an interferometer with a very accurate optical delay line. Using the interferometer the autocorrelation function of a semiconductor laser is measured directly.
