Abstract :
The static model of Nesset and Finch for upstream saturated buildup on single wires in longitudinal-type high gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) is tested against the experimental profile and buildup radius data of Friedlaender et al. The measured and predicted profiles and buildup radius versus flow velocity using corrected velocity data show good agreement. The modeling is achieved without resort to fitted parameters.
