Abstract :
The accelerator complex of heavy ion facility projected at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (IPCR) consists of a separated-sector cyclotron (SSC), a variable frequency linac[1] and a conventional AVF cyclotron. The main magnet system of this SSC consists of four sector magnets with a sector angle of 50 degrees, gap distance of 80 mm and weight of 530 tons per a sector. The design parameters of the sector magnet were determined from the measurements of the magnetic properties of two 1/4-scale sector magnets. The final design of the sector magnet was completed. The magnet design has been based on the model measurements and the technical problems of the construction are presented. The first sector magnet has been placed an order at the beginning of 1981.
