Abstract :
Fibre induced distortions are demonstrated to limit the performance of externally modulated analogue CATV links at distances ⩾90 km. Degradations in both the composite second order and composite triple beat are observed. At optical modulation indices ⩾5.4%, the residual chirp of the modulator could also introduce a significant amount of distortion
