Abstract :
We report the demonstration of a long-wavelength (¿ ~ 1.35 ¿m) waveguide electro-optic TE¿TM convertor. Using a Ti:LiNbO3 waveguide and a 5 mm-long interdigital electrode, essentially complete mode conversion (98%) has been achieved with an applied voltage of 17 V. The spectral bandwidth of the wavelength-selective TE ¿ TM conversion, measured with a tunable infra-red colour-centre laser, is 36 Å (FWHM).
