Waveguide-bandwidth millimetric mixer with IF to 18 GHz

Millimetre-wave mixers using E-plane technology have been designed and fabricated for use over the 60¿90 GHz waveguide band. A conversion loss of typically 9.0 dB for the full waveguide band has been achieved with an IF band of 6¿18 GHz. These figures represent state-of-the-art performance. Such mixers facilitate the design of broadband, potentially low-cost, millimetre receivers.
