Abstract
The author describes how the military standard on reliability testing (MIL-STD-781C) has been used as a basis for planning the reliability test and evaluation program for a current electronic system development, the next generation weather radar (NEXRAD) system. A short description is given of the NEXRAD system configuration and of the availability requirements and calculations for the system. General information is provided on the system documentation relating to the reliability program. A variety of guidelines to be followed on this program that are useful for other electronic systems undergoing reliability testing is also presented.<>
